Leadership Roundtable with Senator Josh Newman

SENATOR JOSH NEWMAN represents California's 29th Senate District, which spans three counties and 16 cities including Anaheim, Brea, Buena Park, Chino Hills, City of Industry, Cypress, Diamond Bar, Fullerton, La Habra, La Palma, Placentia, Rowland Heights, Stanton, Walnut, West Covina, and Yorba Linda. Josh is a U.S. Army veteran who served as an artillery officer after graduating from Yale University with a degree in history. He was assigned to a nuclear weapons unit in South Korea and a conventional artillery battalion in the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii. He moved to California after completing his active duty military service and worked in local government, public affairs, film and television production, and media technology.

In 2012, Josh founded the ArmedForce2Workforce initiative to assist young military veterans in Southern California in pursuit of rewarding, career-oriented employment following completion of their own military service. In 2016, he ran a successful grassroots campaign for the California State Senate. As a state senator, Josh has successfully guided more than 20 pieces of legislation that support veteran services and mental health resources, improve public education, protect open space, and help business leaders create good-paying jobs. He prides himself on being accessible, and accountable, and unafraid to put constituents over politics and working families ahead of special interests.
