BizFed's 2018 Chairman Steve Bullock would like to invite you to join BizFed's Executive Committee via conference call on Thursday, March 14, 2019, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm to discuss BizFed taking an OPPOSE position regarding the LAUSD Parcel Tax and submitting a Ballot Argument in OPPOSITION by Friday, March 15, 2019.
Reasons for opposition include:
- Lack of stakeholder involvement prior to voting and placement on the June 4th ballot.
- It is a per square foot parcel tax, not a flat rate, ultimately putting the burden on the business community.
- This measure doesn't require any fundamental reform that will fix the school district.
- The funds raised through this parcel tax will mainly fund long-term healthcare or pension benefits for employees.
The following item is coming to us with urgency because the deadline to submit ballot arguments in favor/against is March 15th, which is before our regularly scheduled March Board of Directors meeting.
