I would like to invite you to join BizFed’s Anti-Poverty & Economic Mobility Committee on Tuesday, October 6th, at 1 pm to discuss future partnerships with community colleges.
Understanding that Los Angeles County faces a homeless crisis, BizFed committed to lifting 1 million LA County residents out of poverty by 2028.
In researching a path forward, preliminary results from BizFed’s annual Pulse Poll has indicated that the best way for their members to be a part of the solution and help their employees escape or not fall into poverty is by partnering with community colleges to create new short term industry-specific programs.
To best inform our members on how to be a part of the solution and help create these short-term programs, BizFed has invited the following partners to join our cause:
Panel #1 - Engaging Employers In Customized Training
- Dejah Swingle, Director, Career Education, Mt. San Antonio College
- Sasha King, Director, Business Development and Small Business Support, Santa Monica College
- Margaret Fernandez, Grant Manager, Strong Workforce Program, Rio Hondo College
Panel #2 - Benefits of Partnering with Community Colleges
- Joanne Peterson, Chief Human Capital & Development Officer, Metro
- Mike Berman, Principal Program Manager, AWS Educate. Amazon Web Services
- Panelist TBA
